Sign up to the Forests Now Declaration

Deforestation in the tropics and sub-tropics contributes between 18 & 25% of global carbon emissions, second only to the use of fossil fuels. The Forests Now Declaration is a six-point plan calling on governments to reduce emissions from deforestation and protect standing forests through global markets. It has been signed by over 300 high level endorsers, including leaders from accross the world’s great tropical forests.

Action on forests is a win against climate change, a win for vital forest ecosystems, and a win for the whole of humanity.

Vote for a new forest law in Argentina

Argentina’s forests are disappearing rapidly: the country loses 300,000 hectares of native forest per year, one hectare every two minutes. They want to collect 1 million votes to restrain this destruction. Help stop the clearings. Vote for the new Forests’ Law.

Save Candamo, Heart of the Bahuaja-Sonene National Park, Peru

Bahuaja-Sonene National Park in southern Peru is being threatened with being reduced by over 200,000 hectares to make way for an extension of an oil and gas concession.  This is likely the first in a number of possible reductions to Peruvian protected areas for similar reasons. Bahuaja  is a truly wonderful protected area in the southern Andes and Amazon of Peru that is incredibly biodiverse and protects important headwaters of several rivers. This is not just about Bahuaja - this  is about showing the current Peruvian administration that such actions are not acceptable and there will be a public outcry. Please help stop this by signing the petition below and passing this on to other people.
