In Santa Cecilia and Amurrupa, in Colombia we have been combining our long-term primate surveys with conservation workshops and environmental education classes, which have been so successful that they have generated interest in developing conservation projects and environmental tourism in an additional two communities.
In June we were invited to a locally organised festival of biodiversity and conservation. The event included presentations by local conservation champion and NPC ally Don Blas Cardenas and the NPC team. During the festival we also ran activities for children with a focus on wildlife conservation. In the area around Tatamá National Park we held three workshops for the people of Pueblo Rico.
